Softness That Gives Back

What CSR means when a shawl brand grows roots in Shah Alam — not as a campaign, but as a promise kept quietly.

There is a kind of softness that stays on the body — and another that stays in the heart. At Hannahku, we have always believed a shawl is more than cloth. It is comfort on a long day. It is confidence before a meeting. It is the small, private ritual of wrapping yourself before you step into the world.

So when people ask what corporate social responsibility means to us, we answer simply: if softness is our craft, then giving must be part of our craft too.

Not charity theatre. Neighbourhood truth.

Shah Alam is not a backdrop for us. It is where conversations happen after Maghrib, where aunties remember your mother’s name, where young women juggle lectures, work, and the quiet hope of being seen. Our CSR did not begin with a logo on a banner. It began with listening.

We sat with community organisers. We asked what was actually needed — not what looked good in a photo. Sometimes the answer was fabric. Sometimes it was time. Sometimes it was simply showing up on a Saturday morning when showing up was the rarest gift.

The most meaningful kindness rarely announces itself. It arrives folded carefully, like a shawl offered without asking for applause.

What we choose to fund with our heart

Every season, a portion of what we build is set aside for local impact around Shah Alam — supporting women-led community programmes, modest essentials for those starting over, and small initiatives that keep dignity intact. We do not turn every act into content. Some moments are meant to remain between giver and receiver.

But we will say this: when a young woman wraps a shawl for the first time and stands a little taller, something in the room softens. That is the return we care about.

Why this matters to you

When you choose Hannahku, you are not only choosing drape and colour. You are choosing a brand that believes elegance and empathy can share the same closet. Softness should not stop at the hem. It should travel outward — into neighbourhoods, into mornings, into the hands of someone who needed to feel held.

That is our promise. Quiet. Steady. Local. Human.
